We’ve been lucky enough to work with Caitlin before, and if you know her, you know she’s more than just a TikTok queen—she’s a marketing whiz and the girl who always seems to know what’s next before the rest of us catch on. Smart, savvy, and the ultimate girls’ girl, her energy is contagious (yes, even through a Zoom screen). You can keep up with her on TikTok and Instagram, where she shares her annual Sunday wrap-ups and hilarious content with her best friend Tahlia. This month, we picked her brain on life in the Big Apple, her style philosophy, and everything in between.
Love the 7th and York Team X
1. How has living in New York shaped your sense of self and style?
When I first moved to the city, my style was much more conservative. Living in Australia, I felt pressure to embrace the whole capsule wardrobe ideal, but truthfully, it never fully reflected how I felt. Since being in New York, my style has evolved to feel more like me. I’ve started mixing patterns, playing with shapes, and having a lot more fun with what I wear.
The beauty of NYC is that it reminds you no one’s paying as much attention to you as you think—which is so freeing. I’ve finally found that sweet spot: expressing myself through fashion while still feeling comfortable every day.
2. What’s your biggest piece of friendship advice for girls in their 20s? Especially those trying to live their best Sex and the City life while staying grounded.
Finding your people in your early 20s is no small feat. One of the hardest (but most important) things you can do is separate yourself from those who don’t support the person you’re becoming.
My biggest advice? Surround yourself with chargers, not drainers. You can always tell how someone affects you by how you feel after spending time with them—energised or depleted. Learning to recognise that early on helps you protect your energy and put it where it actually matters.
As a Scorpio, loyalty and trust mean everything to me. And while my world might look big online, my inner circle is small, intentional, and full of real love.
3. Your content feels like a love letter to wearing what makes you feel good. What are the silhouettes, fabrics, or shapes you always come back to when you want to feel most like yourself?
Baggy jeans and a tight top are forever my uniform. It’s that perfect tomboy-fem balance where I feel both the coolest and the most myself. It’s my go-to for coffee runs, date nights, dinner and drinks—the kind of outfit that just works every time.
I swear by the short-long theory: arms or legs, but rarely both. I’ve learned that modesty makes me feel most powerful. In my younger years, I thought confidence meant showing more skin, but with time, I’ve realised that’s not the case.
4. We feel lucky to have worked with you before and even luckier to call you a friend of 7th & York. What first drew you to the brand?
It was definitely the patterns and colours—they’re so bold without trying too hard. I love knowing that when I wear something from 7th & York, I won’t walk into a room and see five other people in the same thing. It strikes that perfect balance between being an IYKYK brand and having that effortlessly cool, distinctly Australian vibe.
5. What’s something you’ve learned about life in your 20s that you wish someone had told you earlier?
That you don’t need to announce every move. In a world that rewards loud success (thanks TikTok), there’s something powerful about working hard in silence and letting your results speak for you. Not everything needs to be shared, explained, or validated. I’ve learned that real progress often happens behind the scenes—and the right people will notice when it matters.
6. You’ve got a friend visiting NYC for 24 hours—where are you taking them, what are you doing, and what are you both wearing?
We’re starting with a run through Central Park. A little loop is the perfect way to start the day, then we’ll jump on the subway downtown to SoHo. First stop: Café Lyria for iced Lyrias and a proper catch-up out the front (they have the best music here).
We’ll pop into Kith just for fun (hot take: I don’t actually love the shopping in NYC—I think Aussie brands do it best). Then we’ll jump on an e-bike and spend a couple of hours wandering around Dumbo, maybe checking out the flea market on a Sunday.
We’ll bike back over into the West Village for a late lunch at Via Carota, followed by spritzes and dirty martinis at my fave bar, Bar Pisellino. We’ll end the evening at Ripple Room.
I’m in baggy jeans, a cool top, and mules; my friend’s probably in something borrowed from my closet.
7. Go-to drink order right now? (Coffee or cocktail, your pick.)
Extra dirty Vodka Martini!
