Meet Kiana Stanley, a fresh talent in the Australian fashion world and the stylist behind this weeks Dispatch. At just 22, Kiana has already developed a clear approach to her work: blending classic pieces with playful, unexpected details to help people look and feel like their best selves. She’s inspired by individuality, small brands doing things differently, and the idea of building a wardrobe with real intention. She cares as much about the feel of a shoot as making sure a wardrobe truly suits someone. We invite you to step into her world and hope you love this series as much as we loved working with Kiana.
How would you describe your styling philosophy in a sentence or two?
My styling vibe is all about making people feel like the best version of themselves, mixing classic pieces with fun, bold touches that show off their personality. I love looks that feel effortless but still make a statement.
What’s your favourite part of building a look: the initial concept, the pull, or seeing it come to life on set?
Definitely seeing it come to life on set. There’s nothing like watching an idea grow from a moodboard into a full look on someone — it just hits different. The energy, the movement, the way everything comes together makes all the prep so worth it.
How has your personal style evolved alongside your work?
My personal style has definitely grown with my work. It’s become more refined but still playful. The more I’ve styled others, the more confident I’ve become in experimenting and trusting my eye. I’ve learned to mix structure with fun, and now I dress with so much more intention, even on my off days.
What excites you about where fashion is heading, and what do you hope to see less of?
I’m really excited about how fashion is shifting toward individuality and storytelling — people are dressing to reflect who they are, not just what’s trending, and that’s powerful. There’s also a growing focus on sustainability, ethical production, and supporting smaller creatives, which I think is so important. I’d love to see less overconsumption and throwaway culture, where trends come and go so quickly they barely have time to breathe. Fashion should feel personal and intentional, not like a race to keep up.
Who are some small brands you’re loving for new pieces and inspiration right now?
I’m really drawn to independent labels that bring fresh perspectives and a strong sense of identity. Some small brands I’m currently inspired by are Capianghi Summer, Benni, My Friends Are Yours, Exotic Import, and Ena Pelly. They’re all pushing boundaries and redefining fashion in their own unique ways — I find their work incredibly inspiring.
Most treasured piece in your wardrobe?
My most treasured piece is 100% my Ganni cowboy boots. They’re the perfect mix of cool and classic, and they instantly add personality to any look. I’ve worn them to death and still get compliments every time — they just make me feel like me.
Dream person to style — living or dead?
I’m sorry but I have two! My dream people to style right now are Tate McRae and Jana Capi. Tate’s got that effortless, cool-girl vibe that’s always on point, and Jana’s style is bold, fresh, and full of personality. Styling either of them would be such a vibe!
